Privacy Policy — Flag Ladder
Effective date: 8 June 2026 Last updated: 8 June 2026
Flag Ladder ("the app", "we", "us") is a flag-guessing quiz game. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have. By using Flag Ladder you agree to this policy.
We do not ask for your name, email, phone number, or any account sign-up.
1. Information we handle
a) Data stored only on your device
The following never leaves your phone unless you appear on the online leaderboard (see below). It is kept in local storage and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data:
- Game progress: lives, current and best streak, daily mission and login streak.
- Statistics: countries you have seen, per-region correct/wrong counts.
- Settings: language, sound, vibration and notification preferences.
- Premium (ad-free) purchase status.
b) Data stored on our leaderboard (only if you opt in by setting a username)
The online leaderboard is optional. It is used only after you choose a username. When you do, we store the following on our backend (Supabase):
- A randomly generated, anonymous identifier (an anonymous auth ID). It is not linked to your real identity, device, email, or advertising ID.
- The username (nickname) you chose.
- Your best Ladder streak and best Blitz score.
- The flag avatar you selected (a country code).
- A timestamp of your last update.
If you never set a username, no leaderboard data is sent.
c) Advertising data
The app shows ads through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure ads, Google may process device and usage information such as a device advertising identifier, IP address, and general ad-interaction data. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
For users in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, we present Google's consent form (UMP) before ads load, so you can choose between personalized and non-personalized ads. On iOS, the system App Tracking Transparency prompt also asks permission before any cross-app tracking identifier is used.
d) Purchases
Premium (ad-free + extra lives) is sold as an in-app purchase processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment details; the stores handle the transaction. The app only records a local flag indicating that Premium is active.
2. How we use the information
- To run the game and remember your progress, lives and settings on your device.
- To show the optional global leaderboard and your rank.
- To display ads, which keep the app free (unless you buy Premium).
- To send a local daily reminder notification, if you enable notifications. These reminders are generated on your device; we do not send push messages.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Third-party services
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Advertising | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Supabase | Leaderboard storage & anonymous auth | https://supabase.com/privacy |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | In-app purchases | Apple / Google policies |
4. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- Leaderboard data remains until you ask us to remove it. Because the leaderboard identifier is anonymous, please contact us (below) from the device in question or include your username so we can locate and delete the entry.
5. Children's privacy
Flag Ladder is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the optional leaderboard, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
Depending on your region (e.g. GDPR in the EEA/UK, KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to withdraw ad consent. You can:
- Change or withdraw ad consent any time from the app, or in your device's Google ad settings.
- Stop all leaderboard storage by not using a username.
- Request deletion of leaderboard data via the contact below.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app.
